How to Dispose of a Mattress in Scottsdale: Pickup and City Options

Getting rid of a mattress in Scottsdale starts with three questions: does your address qualify for city collection, how soon does it need to leave, and can you move it outside? The best choice depends on those answers and the mattress's condition.

Check Scottsdale brush and bulk collection

The City of Scottsdale lists mattresses among accepted brush and bulk items. Its service is monthly for residents paying for residential collection. Check the official city page for your address's schedule, preparation requirements and placement instructions before setting anything out.

Do not assume an apartment, commercial address or a home served by another municipality follows the same rules. Confirm your collection service with the city or property manager. Use the official schedule linked below, because a general article cannot tell you your next collection date.

Book a pickup when you need a chosen window

A paid mattress pickup lets you select an available appointment instead of waiting for the municipal route. Our online booker covers mattresses and box springs in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley and Northeast Phoenix, with separate curbside and inside-pickup choices.

Curbside starts at $79 for a twin or twin XL. Inside pickup adds $40, stairs on an inside pickup add $30, and today's available appointments carry a $45 rush fee. Add your actual items to see discounts and the complete total. Availability varies; a same-day option is not a promise that every window is open.

If you plan to haul it yourself

Contact the disposal facility before loading. Confirm that it accepts your mattress, whether residency restrictions apply, the current hours and fees, and how the load must be secured. Those details depend on the facility and can change.

Plan for the mattress's size and weight, a suitable vehicle and help with lifting. Do not leave it beside a dumpster or on vacant land without authorization. For an apartment, ask management where a scheduled pickup can safely stage without blocking access.

Donation depends on the recipient

Ask the specific charity or reuse organization whether it currently accepts used mattresses and what condition requirements apply. Acceptance is not guaranteed, and a general donation policy for furniture may exclude mattresses. Get confirmation before transporting the item or leaving it outside a donation site.

For our pickup service, mattresses with bed bugs or heavy soil are not accepted. Text us before booking if there is uncertainty about condition. Proper disposal is the promise; we do not claim that every collected mattress is recycled or donated.

Prepare the pickup spot

For curbside service, place the items in an accessible approved spot before your appointment window and keep paths clear. Check any building or HOA rules yourself. For inside service, have someone available to provide access and clear the path from the room to the exit.

Count the mattress and box spring separately. If the project also includes a bed frame, dresser or other furniture, Mora’s Junk Removal can discuss the full load. Our mattress booker is designed for the listed mattress and box spring items.
